Who is this site for?
Mainly project managers who want to use AI to get ahead. It also suits program managers, team leads, and anyone whose work involves planning, reporting, or stakeholder communication.
Self Made PM is built mainly for project managers who want a competitive edge with AI, especially those who feel buried in plans, meetings, and status reports.
Who gets the most out of it
- Project managers: the primary audience. The material shows how to hand the drafting work to AI so you can spend your time reviewing and deciding.
- Program managers: the same techniques apply to planning and reporting across several projects.
- Team leads: useful if you coordinate work, run meetings, or write updates without holding a PM title.
- Anyone who plans, reports, or communicates with stakeholders: the approach doesn't depend on a particular industry or methodology.
Do you need to be technical?
No. The book says no coding is required for Chapters 1–8, which cover the core workflow. Chapters 11–13 are technical and optional, depending on how far you want to go. Read Do I need coding skills to use this material? for the breakdown.
Do you need to already use AI?
No. If you're new to AI tools, start with Is the book suitable for AI beginners? and the blog article Starting with AI with no technical background.
What it isn't
This isn't a general chatbot tips site, and it isn't an official certification course. The site and book are independently authored and not affiliated with PMI or any AI vendor. See Is the book affiliated with Anthropic or Google? for details.
