Does this site use cookies or tracking?

No. The site sets no cookies of its own and has no analytics or tracking scripts. LocalPM and PDU course progress are saved in your browser's local storage, and YouTube's player loads only when you click play on a video.

Here's what happens when you use selfmadepm.com. The Privacy Policy has the full details.

The site itself

  • The site sets no cookies of its own and has no analytics, tracking pixels, or beacons. There's no Google Analytics, Plausible, or similar tool, and no cookie banner because there's nothing to consent to.
  • There are no accounts, logins, comments, or sign-up forms. The site never asks for your email address. The only place it asks for your name is a PDU certificate, and that stays in your browser (see below).
  • The site's own code doesn't send anything you enter to a server.

What your browser stores

A few features save data in your browser's local storage, on your device only. It's never sent anywhere.

KeyUsed byWhat it holds
localpm-dataLocalPMYour projects, stories, sprints, and other LocalPM data
localpm-themeLocalPMYour light or dark theme choice
pdu-progressPDU coursesThe parts of each video you've watched, your recorded learning time, your knowledge check result, and your pass date
pdu-learner-namePDU certificatesYour name, saved only if you tick the option to remember it

The name you type for a certificate is used to draw the PDF in your browser and is never sent anywhere.

Clearing "cookies and other site data" for selfmadepm.com deletes all of this, including your LocalPM projects. Read Where does LocalPM store my data? before clearing anything.

Videos (click to play)

Videos in blog articles and on PDU course pages show a thumbnail image served from selfmadepm.com, so opening the page doesn't contact YouTube. YouTube's privacy-enhanced player (youtube-nocookie.com) loads only when you click play. From then on, YouTube's (Google's) own policies and cookies apply. The thumbnails in the Video Library are also served from selfmadepm.com.

The same applies on YouTube itself, for example if you open the YouTube playlist. To avoid YouTube entirely, read the written version of the article and don't play the video.

Hosting and search tools

  • The site is hosted on GitHub Pages. GitHub processes request data, such as IP addresses, under its own privacy statement.
  • The site uses Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools, which show aggregate search data from those search engines. They add no code to the site.

Links to other sites

Links to Amazon, YouTube, and subthesis.com take you to sites with their own policies. What happens there is outside this site's control.
