The toolkit address isn't working. What should I do?

Check that you typed the address exactly as printed in the book, try another browser, and pause any content blocker for the site. If it still won't load, email angel@subthesis.com.

Most toolkit address problems come down to a small typing mistake or something in the browser. Work through these checks in order.

1. Type the address exactly as printed

Compare what's in your address bar with the address printed in the book, character by character:

  • Check every letter, dot, slash, and hyphen.
  • Watch for look-alike characters, such as the letter O and the number 0, or a lowercase l, a capital I, and the number 1.
  • Make sure there are no extra spaces, especially at the start or end.
  • Type it into the address bar, not a search box. A search engine may send you somewhere else.

If you copied it from a Kindle app, try retyping it by hand. Copying can pick up extra characters.

2. Try another browser

Open the address in a different browser, or in a private window of the same browser. If it works there, the problem is likely a setting or extension in your usual browser.

3. Check your connection

Make sure other websites load. If you're on a work network, it may block sites it doesn't recognize. Try a home network or your phone's mobile data.

4. Pause content blockers for the site

Aggressive ad blockers, privacy extensions, or security software can sometimes block a page. Turn off the blocker for the toolkit's site, or allow the site, then reload.

What you should see

The toolkit opens without a password, code, or account. If a page asks you to sign in or pay, you're not on the toolkit, so double-check the address against the book. The toolkit is hosted on Subthesis.

Still not working

Email angel@subthesis.com and include:

  • Which edition you have (Kindle e-book or print)
  • The browser and device you're using
  • What you see, such as an error message or a blank page (a screenshot helps)
