Are the PDU courses free, and do I need an account?
Yes, they're free. There's no account, no sign-up, and no payment. Progress is saved in your browser on that device, and your certificate is created in your browser.
All 23 PDU courses are free. There's no account to create, no sign-up form, and nothing to pay, whether you take one course or all of them. The certificate is free too.
No account needed
The site has no logins or user profiles anywhere, including the courses. Open a course from the PDU catalog and start watching.
Instead of an account, the course page keeps your progress (the parts of the video you've watched, your recorded time, and your knowledge check result) in your browser's local storage. That means:
- Progress stays on the device and browser where you watched.
- There's no sync, so switching to another device or browser means starting that course again.
- Clearing this site's data or using a private window loses your progress.
If you plan to finish a course over more than one sitting, use the same browser in a normal window each time. See Why did my course progress disappear? for more.
What about my name?
To generate a certificate, you type your name after passing the knowledge check. The name is used only to draw the PDF in your browser, and you can choose to have your browser remember it. It's never sent to a server.
Where the videos come from
The videos are hosted on the Subthesis YouTube channel and play on the course page through YouTube's privacy-enhanced player, which loads when you click play. You can also find them in the YouTube playlist, but only watching on the course page records learning time toward a certificate.
