How do I earn a certificate of completion?
Watch at least 90% of the video on the course page, pass the knowledge check with 4 out of 5 correct, then enter your name and download your PDF certificate of completion.
Each course page walks you through three steps: watch, pass the knowledge check, and download your certificate. Start by choosing a course from the PDU catalog.
1. Watch the video on the course page
Play the video on the course page itself, not on YouTube, so your progress is recorded. The page shows a thumbnail until you click play, and YouTube's privacy-enhanced player loads only then. The page counts each second of video you actually play, once. Skipped sections don't count, and rewatching a section doesn't count it twice.
The knowledge check unlocks once you've watched at least 90% of the video.
2. Pass the knowledge check
The knowledge check has 5 multiple-choice questions from the course, shown in random order. You need 4 out of 5 to pass. You can retake it as many times as you need, and explanations appear after you submit. See How does the knowledge check work?
3. Enter your name and download the PDF
After you pass, enter your name and download your PDF certificate of completion. Your name is used only to draw the PDF in your browser and is never sent anywhere. If you tick the option to remember it, it's saved in your browser's local storage on that device.
What the certificate shows
- Your name, the course title, and the completion date
- The provider: Self Made PM / The Project Brain, a Subthesis project
- Your recorded learning time (h:mm)
- The PDUs you earned, in 0.25 steps, and the course maximum
- The Talent Triangle area and "Online or Digital Media (self-reported)"
- Links to the course page and video, and a certificate ID
- A note that Self Made PM isn't a PMI Authorized Training Partner
The PDUs on your certificate come from your recorded time, so they may be lower than the course's listed maximum. That's expected. Read How is PDU credit calculated for each course?
Tips for a smooth finish
- Finish in the same browser, in a normal (not private) window, because progress is saved in your browser's local storage (
pdu-progress) on that device only. See the Privacy Policy for what the site stores. - Save the PDF somewhere safe as soon as you download it.
- Then report the PDUs shown on the certificate. See How do I report these PDUs to PMI?
