Which courses count toward Business Acumen?

Four courses are tagged Business Acumen, with listed maximums adding up to 7.5 PDUs. As with every course, your credit is based on recorded learning time.

Four of the 23 free courses are tagged Business Acumen, the Talent Triangle area for understanding the organization, strategy, and business context around your projects. It's the smallest group in the catalog.

The courses

The listed values add up to 7.5 PDUs, but that total is a sum of maximums.

What you'll actually earn

Credit comes from the time the site records: the video playing on the course page plus time on the knowledge check (capped at 15 minutes per attempt), rounded down to the nearest 0.25 PDU and capped at the listed maximum. With videos of about 20 minutes, most people record much less than the listed value. Always report the PDUs printed on your certificate. See How is PDU credit calculated for each course?.

Why these four

Together they cover the business side of project work: how projects roll up into programs and portfolios, the financial and KPI language executives use, structured ways to make decisions, and the organizational reasons projects fail. The companion articles, such as Why Projects Fail and Programs vs Portfolios, are good reading before or after a course.

How many you need

PMI sets how many PDUs you need from each Talent Triangle area, and those rules can change. Check PMI's current CCR Handbook for your certification's requirements.

All four courses are free, need no account, and are self-reported to PMI under Online or Digital Media. Self Made PM is not a PMI Authorized Training Partner. Browse everything in the PDU catalog.
