How many PDUs can I earn on this site?

The listed values add up to 47.0 PDUs, but each is a maximum. Credit is based on recorded learning time, and with 17–29 minute videos, most people earn roughly 0.25–0.5 PDU per course.

The 23 courses have listed values that add up to 47.0 PDUs. That number is a sum of maximums, not what you should expect to earn. Your realistic total is much lower.

Why the listed total isn't what you'll earn

PMI counts 1 PDU per hour of learning. The site records your actual learning time on each course page:

  • time while the video is playing, plus
  • time spent taking the knowledge check (capped at 15 minutes per attempt).

That time is rounded down to the nearest 0.25 PDU (15 minutes) and capped at the course's listed maximum. The videos run 17 to 29 minutes, so your recorded time for a course is roughly the video length plus your quiz time. For example:

  • A 20-minute video plus a 5-minute quiz is about 25 minutes, which rounds down to 0.25 PDU.
  • A 29-minute video plus a 10-minute quiz is about 39 minutes, which rounds down to 0.5 PDU.

A course listed at 3.0 PDUs will usually produce a certificate showing well under that.

A realistic estimate

As a rough guide, most people record about 0.25 to 0.5 PDU per course. Across all 23 courses, that works out to something in the range of 6 to 12 PDUs, not 47. Your exact number depends on how you watch and how long you spend on each knowledge check. Watching at a faster speed lowers it further; see Does watching at a faster speed affect my PDUs?.

What to report

Report the PDUs printed on each certificate, which reflect your recorded time, not the listed maximum. You self-report them to PMI under Online or Digital Media; Self Made PM is not a PMI Authorized Training Partner. PMI also sets its own limits on how many PDUs you can claim per category and area, so check PMI's current CCR Handbook.
