How do I plan a sprint in LocalPM?

Open Sprints, click New Sprint, and give it a name, goal, and optional dates. Then add stories by editing each one in the Backlog and choosing the sprint in its Sprint field.

Planning a sprint in LocalPM has two parts: creating the sprint itself, then deciding which stories go into it. New sprints start in the Planning status, so nothing changes on your board until you start one.

Create the sprint

  1. Open your project and choose Sprints in the sidebar.
  2. Click New Sprint (or Create Sprint if the project has no sprints yet).
  3. Enter a Sprint Name, such as "Sprint 1". This is the only required field.
  4. Add a Sprint Goal that explains what the sprint should achieve.
  5. Optionally set a Start Date and End Date.
  6. Click Create Sprint.

The sprint appears as a card showing its status, goal, dates, and a progress bar of completed stories and points.

Add stories to the sprint

LocalPM doesn't have a drag-to-sprint planning view. Instead, you assign stories one at a time:

  1. Open Backlog.
  2. Click a story to open its edit dialog.
  3. In the Sprint field, choose your new sprint.
  4. Set the status to To Do so the story shows on the Kanban board once the sprint starts.
  5. Click Update.

Repeat for each story you want to commit to. The sprint card updates its story and point totals as you go, which makes it easy to see when you've taken on enough.

Tips for a realistic plan

  • Estimate stories with story points before planning, so the sprint total means something.
  • Check your team's capacity on the Team page, and compare the planned points with past sprints in Reports.
  • Keep the goal to one or two sentences. A focused goal makes it easier to say no to mid-sprint additions.

For a lighter-weight approach to the planning meeting itself, read Sprint planning without the ceremony overhead and Sprint goals that drive focus instead of gathering dust.
