About this course

Most status reports take hours to write and get skimmed in seconds by an executive who really wants to know one thing: should I worry? This course rebuilds status reporting around what the reader needs, with a one-page Bottom Line Up Front (BLUF) structure and a disciplined, honest use of Red Amber Green (RAG) status.

Who this course is for

  • Project managers who write regular status reports for sponsors and steering committees
  • Anyone whose reports go unread and are followed by ad hoc questions from leadership
  • PMs who struggle to deliver bad news or who feel pressure to keep a project Green

What you'll be able to do

  • Design a one-page BLUF report whose first paragraph gives the status, the key issue, and your plan
  • Define what Green, Amber, and Red mean and apply RAG across dimensions such as schedule, budget, scope, risks, and vendors
  • Avoid the "watermelon project" and treat Amber as the most important color
  • Deliver bad news using a formula: issue, impact, cause, remediation with owners and dates, and the decisions needed
  • Choose three to five meaningful metrics and collect consistent input from the team with a five-minute template

Complete the video and knowledge check to earn up to 2.0 PDUs, credited from your recorded learning time.
