How do I log daily standups in LocalPM?
Open Standup, pick or type the author, fill in Yesterday, Today, and Blockers, then click Submit Update. Entries appear in the History list, grouped by date.
The Standup page gives each project a simple daily log based on the classic three questions. It's useful for asynchronous teams, or for keeping a written record of what was said in a live standup.
Log an update
- Open your project and choose Standup in the sidebar.
- Choose the Author. If you've added people on the Team page, pick a name from the list. Otherwise, type a name.
- Fill in any of the three fields:
- Yesterday: what the person worked on.
- Today: what they plan to work on.
- Blockers: anything in their way. Leave it empty if there's nothing.
- Click Submit Update.
An author is required, and at least one of the three fields must have text. After you submit, the text fields clear but the author stays selected, so you can quickly log the next person by changing the name.
If a sprint is active, the entry is linked to that sprint automatically.
Review the history
Below the form, History lists every entry for the project, newest first, grouped under the date it was submitted. Blockers are highlighted so they stand out when you scan the list.
Entries can't be edited. To fix a mistake, delete the entry with the x on its card (confirm the prompt) and submit it again.
Getting more from standups
- Read back through blockers before your retrospective. Repeated blockers are good retro topics.
- Keep entries short. One or two lines per field is enough to jog memories later.
- Standup entries are saved in your browser only, so they're visible to whoever uses that browser, not to your whole team. See Where does LocalPM store my data?.
For a format that keeps the meeting brief, read The daily standup template that takes five minutes, not thirty. To see how a written log feeds your retros, read The standup history your retros have been missing.
