Does LocalPM have dark mode or keyboard shortcuts?

Yes to dark mode: click the moon icon at the top right to switch, and LocalPM remembers your choice. The only keyboard shortcut is Esc, which closes any open dialog.

Switching between light and dark mode

LocalPM starts in light mode. To switch:

  1. Look at the toolbar across the top of LocalPM.
  2. Click the theme button on the right. It shows a moon icon in light mode and a sun icon in dark mode.

Click it again to switch back. The change applies straight away to every page in LocalPM.

Your theme is remembered

Your choice is saved in your browser under localpm-theme, so LocalPM opens in the same theme next time. A few things to know:

  • LocalPM doesn't follow your operating system's dark mode setting. Choose the theme once with the toggle.
  • The setting is per browser, like the rest of your LocalPM data. A different browser or device starts in light mode.
  • Clearing this site's data resets the theme to light, and also deletes your projects. See How do I reset LocalPM or delete a project?.

Keyboard shortcuts

LocalPM has one keyboard shortcut: press Esc to close any open dialog, such as the story editor or the New Sprint dialog, without saving. Clicking outside the dialog does the same.

There are no other shortcuts, for example to create a story or move between pages. You can still use standard browser keyboard behavior: Tab moves between fields and buttons, and Enter activates the focused button or link.

To move stories on the Kanban board, drag them with a mouse, or open the story and change its status. See How do I use the LocalPM Kanban board?.

Other display controls

  • On smaller screens, such as tablets and phones, the sidebar is hidden to give the board more room. Use the menu button at the top left to open it.
  • Your browser's zoom controls work as usual if you want larger or smaller text.

If you like to plan in the evening, Dark mode for late-night sprint planning has a few more ideas.
