What is LocalPM?

LocalPM is a free, browser-based agile project management tool. It gives you a Kanban board, backlog, sprints, epics, standups, retrospectives, and reports, and it stores everything in your own browser.

LocalPM is a free agile project management tool that runs entirely in your web browser at /tools/localpm/. There's no account, no sign-up, and no server. Your projects are saved in your browser's local storage and never sent anywhere.

What you can do with it

Each project has its own set of views, which you reach from the collapsible sidebar:

  • Overview: totals for stories and points, the active sprint, and how stories are spread across statuses
  • Board: a Kanban board with To Do, In Progress, In Review, and Done columns
  • Backlog: every story in the project, with filters for status and priority
  • Sprints: plan, start, and complete sprints
  • Epics: group related stories into larger, color-coded initiatives
  • Reports: a velocity chart plus breakdowns by status and priority
  • Standup: log yesterday, today, and blockers for each person
  • Retro: record what went well, what to improve, and action items for each sprint
  • Team: add team members with a role, avatar color, and capacity

Work items come in four types (Story, Bug, Task, and Spike) and each can carry story points, a priority, an assignee, labels, and acceptance criteria.

Who it's for

LocalPM suits solo project managers, freelancers, and small teams who want a lightweight way to run agile work without setting up accounts or paying for a hosted tool. It also works well for learning Scrum and Kanban hands-on.

What it doesn't do

Because everything lives in one browser, LocalPM doesn't sync across devices, doesn't support multiple people editing the same project, and doesn't have export or backup yet. See Does LocalPM work offline or across devices? and Can I back up or export my LocalPM data? before you put critical work in it.
